A good shader for models

Hey everyone.

I have seen some impressive shaders for models and I was curious if anyone knows of a good shader to have a model in (just a single color shader).

I have seen some in all white which had a slightly darker color near the other parts and shows a lot of detail which is what I am really looking for. Mainly to show the model and its detail in all one color.

I have maya and mental ray. Any suggestions?

I think that those renders you're talking about all have to do with lighting. Check out GI Joe...

The better shader i use to assign to a model, in order to show every detail is the MR Dirt shader. But this is just my opinion.

I looked around for the mental ray dirt shader and am unable to locate it. Could you help me out and tell me where it is so I can try it out?

Thanks for the suggestions.

Ok, for some reason I can't find it. I have Maya 7 and I am in Hypershade looking in the create nodes. I don't see the "dirt shader"

I have it showing all nodes in the option on what to look for. Is there a different place I am suppose to look or something I am not doing right?

I really apreciate you helping me out! Thanks a ton.

Sorry JDigital i gave you the wrong name, i'm used to call it that way because the original Dirt Shader came from XSI. The MR shader for that effect , which is ambient occlusion, is called mib_amb_occlusion and you can find it in the Textures tab inside MR create nodes.

In order to use it, you'll just have to creat a Maya Lambert or a MR mib_illum_lambert and connect the mib_amb_occlusion to AmbientColor on the material you choosed. Then play with the settings in order to get the desired look. Hope this helps mate!!
