poly with smooth proxy texture transfer

I am working in maya 5.0. My poly model with a smooth proxy added, After modeling, model was duped in low res. and reshaped for mapping and the UV's were to be transfered back to the original model but the transfer will not work can any one help! It seems that adding the smooth porxy to the poly primative changes the normal UV transfer

Well after trying a few things this worked. Dupe your proxy mesh and the smooth mesh. Do your UV mapping on the duped proxy mesh then transfer the UVs to the original proxy mesh, then transfer the UVs from there to the original hi-res smooth mesh. This may help you when selecting the faces for UV mapping. When you create the smooth proxy turn on "Keep" in the Smooth Proxy Shader Options section. It makes seeing the faces easyer when the proxy mesh is not in the transparent mode. Meshue
