abstract render?

I was just wondering (first) if it was possible to make an abstract render in maya and (second), if it is possible, how would you go about making it?

Thanks,

What do you mean by an abstract render? You mean like a "Picasso-Painting-like" picture?

create some curves, then group them and use non-linear deformations to twist and squash them how you want to. Then use the loft technique for making tubes to make some thin tuves you can render.

That's where I would start.
