need help with mental ray

hi, this is my first try to do some thing without any tutorial ...
but i think the reflection is to high and the shadows to hard .. what can i do against it?

-go in your material attrubute and lower the reflection till you get stg nice.

-for your shadow, go in your light attribute play with the attributes under raytrace shadow or dept map shadow depending on what king of light you chose.

but is it normal , that this image rendered 20 min?
i ve got 3.6 ghz 2g ram etc......

HOLY CRAP you have a nice comp. A bit better then mine! I dont see that often. Yes, it should take that long. You cant expect everything to render in 5 mins, and looking at all of those reflections, I would say that is a bit shorter then it would take my comp.

okay thank you .. as i said... i m "using" maya for a very short time .. so .....i ve got to ask some stupid questions
