How do i use feet as units?

Hi,
I am shifting from max to maya. As I am making a room for a client I need to work in preciuse units i.e. feet.
I couldnt find a way to make for eg. a plane (for wall) 1o feet high and 13 feet wide.
Hw do I create objects with accurate feet units?
Also is there some "measuring tape" tool?

Thankyou!

Go to Window>Settings/Preferences>Preferences> click Settings and change the Linear units to feet, now every 1 unit on the grid is 1 foot.
