Mar/Apr - Norm - jramauri

This challenge will be really funny! I was looking for some kind of diferent vehicles on web, and I found this:

https://img52.imageshack.us/img52/408...adster37vj.jpg

This dude has made a very interesting kind of monocycle. More about it:
https://www.torpedo-emscher.de/wr/uni...etroadster.htm

And I guess I'm going to base my tranformer on this monocycle. Of course, I will have to make some improvements, like add guns and more volume to the monocycle. But it looks real great for this purpose!
Next step is work on concepts. So, let's go!

LOL, I wonder if Revenge of the Sith had any influence on that vehicle design!:p

Thanks guys. Before start drawing, I made a quick blocked version of robot and vehicle, to understand how a transformation could occur here. I think this is a good solution:

Robot and vehicle, side by side. A good compression!

A closer view of vehicle. My set/oct challenge model, Michelle Heart, appears here as my test pillot. I would like to see how the vehicle will be with a human aboard.

And this is what I expect about the robot: He should be 2.5m tall, skinny and fast, ready to run and fight. The big wheel (70cm radius) is used by him as a weapon, that he throws against his enemies. The wheel has some kind of sensor, that always lead it back to the robot hands, like a boomerang.

Based on this, I think I could make some sketches now.

nice start to the concept jramauri user added image

it just so happens that after my initial design studies on paper I'm doing exactly the same as you - blocking things in to get an idea of if it'll work and where the bits go.

I think you could make more of the hoop though - maybe split it into 2 or 4 bits which could overlay on the body to give it some curves or something. Maybe as pipes curving off the back of the bot? You could also split the pipe along the length giving you two circles instead of one.

Hmmm....

Thanks for your suggestions, t1ck135. But I was organizing my things today, and I figured out that I have some important unfinished personal projects, that are stopped since last challenge. So, I'm not sure if I will carry this challenge on. These Simply challenges are seductive and very funny, but unfortunatelly free time is so little...

Hehehe

Definitely, I hate giving up things! I can't miss this challenge, it's so cool! So i'll try to manage better my free time, and work on this.
I made some quick initial sketches. As I'm not sure how I can proceed making things that tranform in others, I'll focus in what is more clear to me now, the robot. What I have in mind is some sort of japanese style mech, instead of autobots.

I made this sketches for the vehicle, but I'm not happy about them. I believe vehicle will be more defined when I get a reasonable shape for the robot.

Nice concepts, dude!

I hear ya about the free time thing! I'm still not sure if I'm gonna jump in on this contest. But today at work visions of transforming vehicles kept popping into my head ... I may not be able to resist ... and looking at your concept sketches is getting me even more inspired ...

Thanks dudes. I'll work a little more on my website - one of my stopped projects user added image - and then I'll give continuity to this challenge. I'm still thinking what approach to use to make the robot. May I use nurbs, or Subds? Don't know yet, suggestions are welcome.
