Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Mar/Apr - Norm - eddiesson

hello everyone!

I didn't decide what to model exactly, I have two choices before me now. One is an alien-looking robot/U.F.O. transformer, the other is a giant metal swimming turtle/destroyer ship.

Oh wait... can animal looking robots are included? because if my memory serves right, there were some animal type robots in the movie, am i right?

I have a few other minor ideas, that mst be developped a bit further.

I'll post some sketches, when I have some time, after work, within this week!

yay...

it has beena disaster week at work, but it is finally finished! so it's time to get back to my personal projects.

I'm one of those wo spend too much time on consept design. so, here's my first steps:

UFO form, will be a simple flying disc as we know it. with three propulsion from below:

as for the robot form... it will be a light robot, looks like an alien, not so muscular, it will have some metal shielding though, especially on joints. two of the propulsion units will form its jetpack. third will be on his belt.

I focused on proportions on the sketch. it's nowhere near the final design yet user added image let's see where it goes...

here's a very hasty animation for transformation. In the beginning, the flying disc is shown from the top.

link to little animation

I think I will cut some more parts from the disc part. arms will come out from the inside of disc. all the parts will be tied to each other by wires, metal bars, joints etc.

I still haven't decided the final appearence of the robot form. that's why I can't model yet :/

Examples of bTraffic - a traffic animation tool for Maya
bFlocking - a tool for Maya 8.5+ to generate flocking and swarming behaviours
