Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Low Poly Character

Hello all user added image It has been a while scince i posted anything here. I have been trying to build up my skill with modleing humans so i made a few references pics, got them into maya and produced this after a couple of hours work. I have kept it at a lower detail instead of making a complicated model wich i would most likley give up on. I need to add a bit more detail on the face and clothing then texture it. I think it looks preety good though user added image

Hello again. I have edited the Shoulder/armpit area and fixed the face up a bit. For all those confused this will be used in a medieval scene.

Good work Some Guy - this is looking very promising - not sure if I see anything medieval in you model so far, but I am sure that that will come. Maybe you could post your references so we can see what you are going for?

It is sorta Everquesty style fantasy medieval... I am not using any reference pics for the armour at the moment but i am still looking. I got the references for the basic human shape of This Site

OK, After a few hours work i have almost finished modleing and have UV'd the body. There is a bit of stretching on the shoulders/armit and the arms also were the different parts join but it dosent really matter.

C&C are welcome user added image

I'd say it has a bit too many divisions in the arms and hands for what detail you have there. what kind of polycount are you going for? Depending on that, you could see if you can afford more detail in the head and hands.

As for now, I'd say you could clear up some of the polys in the arms, hands and head and perhaps add a bit more detail in the clothing and weapon and such.

Might take a gander at my Calamity Jane model toward the bottom of the WiP forum.

Pretty cool though!

mtmckinley: I am aiming to keep the Poly count to under 4000 Tri's. So far i am at 2700 and i don't have that much modeling to go. The hand's are temporary for the moment. I am going to leave most of the clothing detail to texturing.

PS: I saw your Calamity Jane model, i wish i could model like that! user added image
