What's the best method? (Garment)

Hi, I'm new to maya.

I'm learning how to create garments and put them onto characters and objects.

I was just wondering what would be a better method. When you create garments onto characters or objects, should you first convert your charcter or object into polygon, Nurbs, or subdivision and then start create garments for them? or does it not matter because it'll make little difference.

Because right now, i'm putting graments onto Nurb characters and i'm not sure if it's the best method.

Thank you (ahead of time to anyone who cares to reply to this)

I just started to make cloths as well and i was all confused up until now that i saw cloth video tutorial right here on simplymaya. Now i know how to make better cloths and collison geometry. So i think i'll stick to that right now.

I recommend you watch that Cloth tutorial( it's free) and you will have a better understanding of the cloths and it's settings. And it's not even hard.
