Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

XSI vs. Max

lol, this thread is for me and matt to argue about which is better, lol

i think XSI is a much better interface, and has a maya controls setting, but 3DS max is too confusing to learn after maya......

XSI has a very good dynamics system, 3DSmaxes is kinda lacking, lol

Re: XSI vs. Max

lol, thanks 13'th :p

Umm- max has ALT MMB for rotate cam, middle wheel for zoom, and ALT LMB for pan. You don't get much simpler then that, just as easy as Maya, or even easier. (I can't remember, I havent used maya in such a long time :p)

but 3DS max is too confusing to learn after maya......

Where'd you come up with that? Cmon, peeps say the exact same thing about Maya or XSI. Once you get used to something, its kinda hard to switch to something else... and that goes for 3ds Max people to XSI, or to Maya, or to Cinema 4d, for that matter.

Max cloth is a force to be reckond with. Also, they have hard/soft body dynamics, but its not a key feature. That's cuz max has so many other key features that they don't need to show off a Dynamics system. They have all you need for dynamics. 'nuff said.

anyway, matt, you made a very good point, but XSI has a setting, and when you use it it is the EXACT controls as maya, anyway, i do think XSI is better anyway, lol,

P.S. i think 3DSmax is for Yankees fans, lol, go redsox, go maya, lol

well the basic xsi offcourse has the huge price advantage..

I heard the modelling tools are allot better to..

But who the heck designed that interface? It looks like a jump back to the 90ies or something.. or a kid who just found bevel & emboss in photoshop :p
