looking good! i suggest you download some of the 3ds tutorials on that site too...you don't learn clean modeling, but there's a lot that you can get out of it as far as techniques...and most of the tools are the same in Maya...just different names...for instance...inset can be performed by extruding faces and then adjusting the "offset" value (by group is with keep faces together on, by polygon is keep faces together off). i learned a lot of things trying to adapt the modeling tools to maya.
