Tree Frog a'la Kurt

Greetings folks,

I decided to work my way through Kurts tree frog tutorial and here's the outcome. My main reason for using the tutorial was to get my head around UV mapping, something that I always take short cuts on!! After following the tutorial I'm no longer daunted by the prospect of mapping an object properly!

Cheers Kurt,

Mat.

I decided to give him a quick rig and a ball to climb on.

Enjoy,

Mat.

Yeah looking very sweet, loving the last image, I'm very tempted to purchase the treefrog myself then to sharpen up my uv laying skills!!

Nice one Matt, Like the frog on the chrome ball.

Looks really cool, are you thinking of making an environment for it??

That would be really nice if you did!

Cheers for your thoughts folks,

I may put him in a scene one day but it's not at the top of my list of things to do at the moment. I'm going to have a go at a bit of animation next, I should really have a crack at it as I'm doing an animation degree!! Keep an eye out in the WIP forum for any progress.

Thanks,

Mat.

I only used an HDR image to light this one. On the mentalray tab in the render attributes there's an option for IBL (Image Based Lighting), just load an HDR image into it,l turn off the default light, set final gather to whatever you feel necessary, Bobs your uncle -pretty pictures.

Take it easy,

Mat.

Very nice Happy, I have to admit that the first thing that crossed my mind when i saw your 2 pics with the ball was the frog humping it. What can I say. It is very good though. It would be kind of funny to set the scene up with a small tree or elongated object and have the frog actually hump it, hehe.

Hey mat, great little critter you have there. Are you planning on animating it? Oh and the textures look spot on, nice work.

Cheers,

I might animate him in the future but he only has a very rudimentary skeleton in him at the moment. I'd need to do a bunch of work on that before I attempted anything half decent on the animation front.

I'll deal with my new WIP first, I might give him a shot at movement then.

Later,

Mat.
