Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Me Grimlock Smash

Well been wanting to do this for ever and the other day i thought why not.

Everyone may be crying over the fact that soundwave is not in the new transformer movie - not me. I`m missing Grimlock - the only autobot willing to kick ass first ask questions later. So I`m going to give him the 3d treatment.

I still have my good old toy and will be basing it off that with the screw holes and plastic joins removed. Also changing how some of the joints work, but oly so it works more when I animate him.

Yes he will be able to transform.

Only build one version of him and thats this one.

I`m making just like the toy first (apart from some joints) then will tweak it so it looks a lot better (more like the cartoon version).

areas I think need reworking are:

1) the robot head - its too far back and tiny

2) the main legs/arms - with the feet moving back he can`t move his arms from the elbow so going to have his hands come out.

3) The shape of his hands both robot and dino - as the toy ones look cheap

4) Most of the joint - They are designed to only move one way.

A animation is defiantly on the table for this bad boy.

May do all 4 dinobots

Lots of robots etc going on at the moment!

Looks good, looking forward to seeing it textured then animated.

Dunno if you've decided on how your going to texture it (or even if you are) but I would suggest to try and make it realistic and beaten up, buts or rust on the edges etc.

If youve seen the optimus prime on CG talk you'll know what I mean

I can never really tell what parts what on Mechs are till I can see the overall picture!

again thx 4 all kind words.

a battle scared dinobot was already in my mind. The final idea is to have the 4 in a battle ready pose coming out the ark (or somewhere inside ) as a image, and animations of all 4 transforming.

and Arran, man you have the best taste in avartors man - great image
