in max,we have this thing called soft selection..what is its equivalent in maya?

in max,we have this thing called soft selection..what is its equivalent in maya? what softselection does is it makes the selection of edges,polys,vertexes fade in influence.....how do i acheive this in maya?

Afaik, there is no direct equivalent. So far I have not missed that feature from max. Maya has so many other powerful tools like the sculpt tools, clusters, deformers and so on...

Modify > Transformation Tools > Proportional Modification Tool. This probably isn't quite as intuitive as the Max version... you'll more than likely want to check out the options and experiment.

Cant remember the exact name of the script, but theres one called clay dough (or similar) on highend3d which is very similar (imo better in most ways toouser added image )
