Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Maya 6.5 Unlimited to Maya 8.5 PLE-what differences?

I hope that some of the people here are using Maya 8.5, maybe even PLE version. I've just downloaded Maya 8.5, and I was wondering what are the huge differences between 8.5 PLE and 6.5 Unlimited? Are the numbers that important? Are huge changes made every update?

Please shed some light on what is new here, should I stay with Unlimited 6.5, or use 8.5 with the annoying no commercial use renders?

Thanks,
Chris

I wouldent actually say theres much difference especially if your going from unlimited to PLE (which is maya complete) as you doent get the ncloth system and you loose the unlimited functions (cloth, fluids, fur, hair etc)

YOu do gain a few tools, bridge being one, insert edge loops etcetc, and the UV mapping has some cool little tricks to see problem areas.

Oh and the interface has changed a bit, if you look in the whats new section of the help file that should help you out a bit.
