Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Need realistic eye textures? They're right here!

As many of you would know, creating realistic eyes is always something of a challenge.

Well, I was on another board the other day & I came across a link to some eye textures that almost defy belief.

There's a whole gallery of them, ranging in size from about 600x500 to over 1500x1500! Not just painted textures, but real photographs. They simply have to be seen to be believed.

After cropping and applying an inverse polar co-ordinates filter, you can get a real feel for how to go about painting them from scratch.

Have fun ladies & gentlemen... :bandit:

Pleasure gents, hope others get as much use from it as I have..

Steve,
Life's pretty good at the moment I'd have to say. Haven't been using Maya so much lately, I've discovered and fallen in love with Blender. Gotta love a 3d app that has native support for fluids that approaches the power afforded by RealFlow. The renderers are great for Blender, AO, HDRI, caustics, blah, blah, blah - all the things one expects.

Here's what I managed to chuck together the first weekend I had a play around with it. - Just needed greater ray-depth for the 2nd 1/2 of it All modeling, simulation, rendering and compositing done in the one program - Blender. The video's in XviD.

But look out world - Just picked up a server with 6, count'em SIX xeons in it the other day. I have a feeling that thing will be getting quite cosy with maya & rendering it's little heart out before the weekend's over.

Simon
