Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Glass Scratches ...

What is the procedure for creating nicks and scratches to a glass material like a "dielectric_material".

a bump map or displacement map should do the trick, if I understand what you're looking for right.

Hi Ya Mike ... I thought of that but cannot find where to connect to in the dielectric node. Since these Mental Ray nodes are so basic, will I have to go through another node for bump/displacement and then connect that to my dielectric material.

I think on a MR node its in the shading group.

If you open the hypershade and then look for the inputs and outputs its one of the output nodes form the material, I think!
