Leds on road

Hi guys

so... I'm doing this school project and i need illustrations.

So what i am doing is the parking houses where theres small leds on the road.

All i want to ask of you guys is some tips like:

- How do i make a good plastic / glass looking light emitting led that looks REALISTIC

- How do i model and texture the road?

I've posted two 10 minute works to show what i want to do.
I know that i need some bump mapping on the road which isn't working for me really. Should i create some kind of reflection on the asphalt?

If you could throw in some tips i would be great.

and btw: it's not a 3D project but an illustration for a real product so I'm only going to work with metal ray. (thats what i have anyways)

Here's what I'm going after:

Well I won't be very much help right now, im dead tired and completely unfocused but I have some reference photos that you are free to take and may end up being helpful if you don't have any freestanding LED's near you.

The thing you have to remember about LEDS is that for the most part they are clear when not in use and the emitter is what provides color.
Anyways onto the link: LEDS user added image
There are a variety of sizes and colors in my photos and in the rest of the set.
For example, the elusive UV led:user added image
