This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

4.5 vs 4.0

could anyone tell me what's new in 4.5 please? Is the interface any different? Are commands different? Does 4.5 PLE have live?

Live is a matchmoving feature in the Unlimited version. With it you can track camera and/or object motion from a live-action footage.

but you'd only really need to remember the conversion for the one currency instead of several.
