Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Low Residential House

Hi all,
This house is part of an entire neighborhood I am creating for an animation.
The poly count is 2800 for this lot. There will be a total of 7 lots.

Any Critique and comments are welcomed.

looking really cool! impressive for such a low poly count!

the house itself and also the ground looks really really cool. How'd you do the ground? is that just a texture map you made?

i'm not so sure about the fence and that t-shirt on the clothes line though.

looks like the tshirt has been washed and frozen after being layed out! i think the sleeves should be folded down with a few wrinkles (if there's not too much focus on the tshirt then probably just move the sleeves down and then add some shading to where wrinkles might be)

the fence... i'm not sure what it is that's making it not look as awesome as the house itself! i just see something is not right...
maybe it's because it looks to uniform unlike the house

also i think you have some hard edges on your bin user added image

Hi Rockyhills01

I realy like the look of it so far, the fence does lack some depth and the corrigated roof needs to be modeled more like the texture you have on it not so large trofts. I really like you grass and earth texture how did you do that...................Dave

Hey, thanks.
The ground texture was a normal texture map I made in photoshop by merging a grass file and a dirt file.

You are right Chirone about the T shirt. It is set to be a background element, so I don't really want to add anymore polygons in. My maximum size for each lot is 3000 poly. I will defiantly work on the wrinkle idea cause I think that would add more believability.

I think the fence probably needs some detail texturing to be somewhat on par with house.

Thanks for the comments....keep em coming.

I'm not completely sure because I'm inexperienced at it, but could you turn the shirt to cloth, attach gravity to it and then once it's deformed to where you want it convert it back to poly? Like I said not sure if this would work or if it's even possible, just an idea.

Great work though, makes me want to open maya (haven't been in it in a few months)

*I decided to straighten up the tip of the roof and let the texture show the detail rather than add more polygons.
*Added some shading to the shirt
*Applied more detail to the galvanized fencing.

Let me know what you think.

looking good, possibly add some grass texture to the bottom of the fence to brake up the straight lines could also add some ground texture to the bricks were they meet the ground. you could have used instances to add more detail to the roof. One last thing the steps look of place sorry no help with that one.................hope this helps
