Making the underside of a mushroom

Hi,
i have a bit of a problem making the underside of a mushroom. It has holes like the picture and i cant come up with a smart solution. I have thought of making pipes and duplicate, but I dont think it will have the desired effect.

Any ideas will be helpful.

Thanks in advance / Ankh

how close will it be to camera?

if not very close, then use a texture... it looks doesn't even look like they are proper holes in the photo. i wouldn't model them.

Yeah seriously, that would be some pretty dense geo for no good reason. As Hammer said, they look like indentations rather than actual holes. I second the texture suggestion.
