Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

I don't think the bump would create that amount of projection though?

THe lines come up a good amount.

Ive barely touched on zbrush, if I remember correctly -

Import your obj | displace in there | then export again as an obj file ?

also how do I get the exact curves into play in there - dont think freehand would work as well.

to get the lines right use the image as a ref...then curve tool....or again in PS use the pen tool to create the arcs..using the image as a ref. They look like negative spaces dave? dom? they look like a leather imprint rather than a raised surface. Or in Z (dom?) you can use a ref on a plane?

dom why Z may I ask? is it more in tune with the desired effect?

cheers bullet

i just suggested zbrush because all you do is just draw out a line with lazy mouse. I thought it would be easier.
dave painting the maps like that is another option, although i would have a separate map for the softer stuff.

i guess there are many ways to do this.
