keyframing

maya 2012

I found if there are already dynamics going around in a scene I can't get keyframes to set properly. My usual procedure is to move the slider around on the timeframe and set with the keyframe button. However, with ncloth and the like around once I start moving the slider the keyframe is erased. Is there any way around this?

Thanks.

try middle mouse scrubbing through the time line and then setting a key.
