View Port Windows For Modeling??

Yes and hello to you all-

I am new to Maya again and would like some help. I am starting up a new project and would like to create an additional window away from the four quad views. Is this possible at all in Maya 10 and if so how do I create this extra window? I want it for my reference window.

Also are there any good tutorials out there that explain poly by poly modeling. Most of the tutorials I've run across don't go into this at all. The instructors use mostly primitives, I get it but I am faster at edge modeling for some reason.

In addition I am searching for an instructor that do not rely heavily on plug-in tools to help get through a project. All of my commands are by default and would like to learn from that standpoint. And the reason why I am forced to learn this way is because I'm on a Mac and these tools the instructors all mention are for the PC platform only so I am stuck.

All I am after are the tools to get the job done. I am very good in Modo 401 at this but need to get Maya under my belt because the industry out there want look at Modo as serious as Maya. also due to the projects that I have planned out. I will be creating large master scenes once I am up and running in Maya.

Thanks in Advance,

To your first question, you can always create a new persp or orthographic camera (that way you have a camera that you won't mess with) and that would be under Panels>Perspective>New or Panels>Orthographic>New and then "tear off" that panel which is also under "Panels".

GecT-

Thanks. So that I am clear. I would like to keep the four orthos, but add a 5th on to the mix. I have a 3 way monitor setup and would like to have the 5 th window in one of the monitors to see my progress away from the work plane orthos.

I will try this and thanks again user added image
