Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

swift 3d

Anyone on here start out using swift? It's a bit buggy and lacks a lot of the powerful tools but it's kind of fun. Also i saw that maya uses the ravix vector render engine as well. What do you guys think of this little program? I've had it for a while but never really got into 3d till recently. Since i started studying maya in a class I've been having fun messing about with swift again. I don't have maya on my home computer and I've been doing some bits for my class in swift hoping to import them into maya for tweaking and rendering. Anyone ever experiment with that?

From what I've heard (and my very very brief play around), blender has a very very different UI from maya. Do you not think it might be quite frustrating to try to learn maya and blender concurrently? If you're a student, and it sounds like you are, you can get an educational version of maya free for home from autodesks education site.

Maya should still run on those specs. Install the trial to be sure.

Anyone on here start out using swift?

I did!!

when I was 16 or so. Super simple and easy as to use, I could figure everything out (or so i think) without having to read any instructions.

but yeah, it's not a strong tool, but I thought it was cool back then because I could make 3D stuff for flash. I didn't really know about any other 3D software because I never had anyone to tell me about such things.

I started out using anim8or... very awesome (I thought at the time) but very frustrating and limited when I tried it after using maya for a bit.

I will also add that being limited as it was, nothing I picked up from it transfered to Maya or helped in learning Maya. So... it's a total waste of time to use unless you want something super simple to stick into flash.
