Paint Texture with "Repeat UV" on.

I have a simple ground with mountains and what I want to do is to paint it in some places but becouse my texture has a size of 512x512 and it had to be repeated 20x20 times my paint is appearing on those seperate images. Something like this:

Well, change the repeat back to 1 and then paint. Assuming you only want to mark particular spots on your terrain rather than actually add details to the grass texture. Still, you can paint it in a separate file and layer it back on top of the grass.

Also, I've never had textures turn black because of any kind of display limit, it'll just chomp it down to the max resolution I set in my prefs.
