Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 1
This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

SSS - Rendered Mesh Turned Black

Hello!

I have my alien nano head mesh, which after many tweakings and test renders, I finished it.
All good and happy about it. I used misss_fast_skin_maya.

I then moved the folders around and when I opened the file, of course I had to reset all the textures paths.
No problem until I press Render...

The mesh rendered is in black...

This is actually the third time happening after moving folders around.

I think I'm missing something important here just not sure what and why even after resetting all the textures paths to the right folders, Maya / MR doesn't render the materials? Shouldn't just be as easy as resetting the textures path, press render and done with it?

Any help is much appreciated.

hehe just re set the texture paths and reload the texture itself, as sometimes just resetting doesnt always work...you have to go and get it

Apply a new SSS material, in case it has corrupted.

Sometimes the maya one corrupts. It does it on blinns occasionally too

Looking good. Did you do all the alien in Maya or did you import from ZBrush or another external program. Can't wait to see your finished project.

Hello. Thanks. The head was modeled in maya, sculpted and painted in zbrush. The body modeled and tweaked in Silo and painted in mudbox. I'm also using the shadermap v.2 for the normal and other maps.
