Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Curved Sword WIP

No more watermark for me.

Here is a curved blade. I didn't follow any particular design, just threw it together. Comments welcome.

The blade is made from lofted NURBS circles and the rest of it are polygons.

I have no idea how I am going to texture this thing though.

Looks very nice. Lots of swords in the WIP recently, someone should get some other medieval weapons up there e.g. maces and axes! user added image

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Going to tweak it a bit more, then take a stab (Ha!) at texturing.

what is the scale of it? cannot really make out if it is a short or long sword, a one or two hander. if it is a short sword, one handed, then the blade is maybe too short, and the grip is too thin. if it is supposed to be a two hander, the blade might be a bit more wide, or you break the blade as you have a lot of power with 2 hands.

just my $0.02

Hmm...hadn't really thought about that when I was putting it together. I guess it would be a two-handed sword.

It is thicker at the spine, and since it's curved, it would be designed for slicing so it wouldn't matter how wide the blade is.

I guess it's a mutant variation on the katana...

I really like the designs from the Lord of the Rings movies of the Elven weapons.

Very nice lines and styling.
