Hair Paint FX are jagged??

I managed to 'Assign Paint Effects Brush to Hair' but the problem is that the paint effects lines are coming out jagged.

I'm guessing it's following the CVs of the curve and the curves I'm using have 7 points. Is there any way I can get the paint FX brush to follow the curvature better instead of being jagged?

Cheers

Look under the mesh settings in the brush for sub segments.

Yeah here's a render, it seems no different from what I see in the viewport. I also did look at the mesh settings for tube sections and sub segments and increased those to full but there's no change, it still seems that it's using on 7 points of the curve. Can't seem to figure this one out!
