Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Extrude surface along curve Orientation

Hello,

I'm following along a tutorial where the instructor is able to simply select a NURBS circle, shift -select the curve, and then extrude from the surfaces menu. The surface correctly follows the entire path of the curve.

For some reason, mine does not do that. It always extrudes in some random direction or orientation. I am able to make it work by positioning my circle at an end point of the curve, perpendicular. But that's time consuming.

My settings in extrude are: user added image

Nevermind, I figured it out. If anyone else has this problem - after you extrude, go to the channelbox editor. Under extrude history, select "Use component pivot".

The instructor just seems to have neglected to say that you will need to change the extrude settings from the default.
