Glass Jug has black spot

Hello

first, Thank you for the Glass Jugs nurbs modelling and texturing tutorial

second: when I render my Glass Jug in Mental Ray I notice that the base of my model is pitch black. I understand why it would do that in "real" life but I think it is over dark for a real representation.

I have attached an image. I tried changing few paramaters, but as I continue searching and tweaking, I thought I'd post the question here

if you don't know how to change it, I would appreciate an explanation of why it is pitch dark: is it the material? Light? shading? etc. I am using a Mental Ray Dialectric material .

cheers

Mustafa
