animating Constraints?

can constraints be animated?
I'm doing an animation where a character is holding something and then later throws it. At the moment, its constrained to a locater thatis parented to the hand. I'd like to be able to animate the constraints if possible..

Thanks,
George

it depends what you use as the constraints, if theyre locators, yes, but i would recommend using 2 of them and weighting them
you just contrain ur object to 2 locators, one at the hand, the other for when the thing is in the air (the one thatll be animated)set the weight to 100% to the locator in the hand, and just before the object is to leave the hand, point snap the other locaotr to the hand locator, key it, then switch the weights, and animate the second locator user added image
