Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Glow reflection

Is there a way to make glow show up in a reflection. I have a glowing sphere in a tube. notice the sphere reflection but no glow reflection.

Not sure if this is EXACTLY what you are looking for, but it might lead you to the answer:

My personal favorite way to make this work is to do render-passes, and composite it all in postuser added image

Glows are still a bummer in Maya.... user added image

A quote from a great VFX guy named Gmask from my PRE-SM days on Highend regarding this:
"Glows are a post process so you cannot have them behind transparent surfaces.. especially raytraced ones as glows will not be included in the refraction or reflection. The object might show up, but the glow will not.
In a non-raytraced scene it may appear as if the glow is transmitted through a transparent surface but it is not.. it's on top. "

exactly... you have to composite the glow.. it sucks, but thats the way it still is user added image

glow, pfx, fur all have to be composited to show up in reflections user added image since they are a post process

whats annoying about maya is how only geometry tends to get reflected, like you said you cant reflect glows, you cant reflect fur (which i really dnt like) not sure about painfx but i dont think so user added image

No, simply do your glows im maya like normal, just be sure to render them out as separate elements for compositing later.

In your render globals is a flyout called:
"Render Layaer Pass Control"

That's what ya need for this to workuser added image
