This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.
I don't know if this can help you out... but on Highend3D in their Maya Shading Category, there is a water shader and a sea shader... I think I also remember to have seen a water shader on AliasWavefront homepage in their free section... but I'm not sure...
