Placing Animated Video Onto A Computer Monitor

Okay, I need some help, dudes! This is more or less a question of curiosity that may lead to something better in a scene in my movie,'Identity Crisis' (almost reminds me of Bill and Ted with me saying the name of my movie in all these posts - ya know... "...and together, we are... Wyld Stallyons!"... never mind...

Anyway, my question is this. Is it possible to take an animated clip and map it onto, say, a computer monitor... or even a t.v.? How is this possible? Just another silly question from your favorite advanced newbie! user added image

T'anks!

Normally, I would suggest doing that in post, (like in After Effects Pro-Bund ONLY),
using a technique called "Corner-Pinning" in combination with tracking.

There is a SMALL tut in the AE pro-bundle help docs when you do a search for Corner Pinninguser added image

Here are some tuts that talk about corner pinning, so make sure to check them all, as they are not specific to your issue, but the idea is the sameuser added image

There are a couple of ways to do this within Maya. For movie files, you must use a Movie texture node. Or, you can use sequenced images with the File texture node. In both instances, you must animate the Frame Extension attribute in the texture node using either keyframes or an expression. Here is a thread on CG-Talk with links to some quick tutorial movies:

Thanks guys! I don't have AE yet and in a way, not sure I really want or need it right now. Kinda scares me a little. I've seen it in action and it looks even harder to use and understand than Maya ever could be... and I'm just now tapping into Maya's potential.
