Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Very nice and very detailed.. nothing jumps out as wrong to me.

Whats the poly count on this scene?

looks good, especaly the arch. There is something that dosn't seem to be working for you like it could. The brick pavemant dosn't look up to the quality of the rest. Are you using a bump or displacment on it ?

btw.. nice polys.. like the lay out.

I agree with Pony, the pavement looks almost blurry to me, what res is the map? I get the feeling that you've bumped that texture, I woul displace it, or if you're feeling brave you could model it..... user added image

Alan

EDIT

You may also want to tweak your DOF a bit so that the buildings in the back arent in such sharp focus (bearing in mind that you are focussed in fairly tight on the arch)

- I actually tried modeling the foreground bricks, too much

Ill post more soon

The lighting is great! I agree with the above comments. My only observation is that the arch seems either too big, or too small. From the size of the bricks on the ground, it seems that the proportion of the arch is off. Is it for walking, or driving? If those are cobblestone, and supposed to be 4" wide, then the opening looks around 6' wide? It looks great though! just noob coments user added image

Looks fantastic. The blurriness of the texture depends on the filtering. Difficult to get a non-blurry, non-aliased result at that angle.

One thing you could try when I think of it is Mental Rays displacement (far, far better than Mayas). But that would probably not be a viable alternative if you're gonna do an animation.

the archway is for walking but you are right about the brick size,
I was concerned about that, Ill fix that , thanks allot

Im gonna make some mods now and ill post more as I go.
My main focus now is the ground and the arch way.

Also Im getting a small flicker on my bump maps as my camera
pans by and I have already turned up my shading samples and its still there, any ideas?

thanks allot guys

Media, what are you useing to render with ? the defalt maya software, MentalRay ??

Maya's software has more problems with animation renders and artifacts. Could be a switch to MR and the bump problem might disopear. Just a thought.

Also wandering, what are the sizes on the texture maps ? bump maps ?
