Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Reflection linking

I am rendering a 3d head and I want the eyes and lips, which have different shaders, to reflect different HDRI images.

I am currently using a mentalrayIbl node to reflect the image, but obviously this is reflected in any reflective object.

What I want is to have 2 mentalrayIbl nodes each reflecting in a different objects material.

Am I going about this in the right way.

Any suggestion greatfully received.

I don't know if you can do that. If you can it would involve a lot of hacking around in the hypergraph to link the two. what you may want to do is do two different passes one for each hdri image. That way you can comp them afterwards and get what you are looking for.
