scaleable eyes...HOW CAN I DO IT?

hello,

in modeling a character, i need to use his eyes as a sort of driver to push and scale the skin around his eye.

think of a sheet you let hang on a close pin to dry. if you stand on one side of the sheet and push a ball into it, on the otherside you will see the sheet deform in the shape of the ball.

i need the eye to scale and push foward and back and have the eye socket and face move accordingly with it.

keep in mind too, that my eyes are non spherical and i am using a lattice to hold it in place.

the first thing i tried was to make the eye an influance object but translating moves the entire character.
any ideas?

thanks in advance.
