maya 7 models to 3d game studio professional edition 6.40

hi guys,

we're graduating college students from the philippines and working with a 3d game for about 1 year timeframe only. our study should be finished in febuary but we encountered a irritating problem about exporting process from maya 7 to 3d game studio 6.40 professional edition. when we started this project we've underestimated the exporting process not until now.

to anyone that understands us, we are just a bunch of newbies in game development we think that we deserve some help from all of you guys. i'm promising to help other newbies in the future.

The indie game engines are very bad for not accepting standard files (3ds, obj, lwo, etc...). I had a similar issue with Torque and had to leave as the Lead Modeller for the project as Max and Maya become useless, this was after a game engine swap. Game Studio (the a6 engine) uses certain tools one of which is an exporter for Maya (https://www.maya-to-3dgs.com/) to convert the ma/mb files to the correct format.

Also as the engine uses the mdl format you would need this (https://server.conitec.net/down/maya_mdl5_export_v5.zip) file to export from maya to mdl.

Working with Maya and game engines is not easy as Max has been used by over 90% of the games industry for a long time, but Maya has started to fight back and is getting used by more studios as its proprietary software.

Hope this helps...
