Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

eyelashes

Heya,
I made blendshapes for the face and now i want to add the eyelashes. But ofcourse they have to move with the eyelids. Any ideas on the best method how to accomplish this?

Also I'm still not sure if i should make textured NURBS-surfaces, or maybe work with fur on this one...

Any feedback is appreciated!

(don't look at the lighting and shading and stuff, just a reference of the head)

t.i.a.
Mike

You can use the paint hair tool to manually paint a couple of hairs on the eyelids.

Nice model

thank you, mastone,

I tried to play around with hair-follicles, but it seems to me that it's quite heavy for the cause because all the dynamics involved. Plus I can't realy paint hair by hair...

I played around with fur aswell, but i just can't seem to paint the attributes detailed enough. should get meself a faster machine though, but the maps are at 1024 now, but they still come out very blocky..

guess i'll have to put this on the fur-thread..

but any thoughts are welcome

You can also use paint effects there is a brush that's called eyelash i believe.
You can also use the create polygon tool to "draw" over the eye lid then apply only hair on it select the eye lid brush in the visor and then in the hair submenu select use brush as haircolor(orsomething like that).

You can also if all else fails use alpha hair -->just extrude the edges around the eyelid, move some points and then in photoshop paint eyelashes and the surrounding white(=transparent in maya) and apply it on the transparency channel in maya.

Good luck user added imageuser added image
