Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

how to centre in world space?

Dear all,

How do I get an object back into the exact centre of world space once i have moved it around and lost the original transformations?

Thanks,

Stretch

Hi Stretchandgrim,

Make sure you centre the pivot on the object you want to get back to the origin, make sure the grid is visible, hold down X (snap to grid shortcut) and move it grid space by grid space back to the middle.

There may be another way but that's the only one I know, hope it helps!

If you haven't froze transformation you can simply input 0 for all of them in the channel box and have it in the original place, rotation and scale.

When in doubt, delete history and freeze transformations.

Great. Thank you both. I had frozen the trans but the 'x' key's a winner.
