Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Interactive split tool

Just got this book "introducing autodesk maya 2012", im on an exercise where im building a decorative box.

On one of the steps to use the Interactive split tool, it won't show a small orange block on the shapes wireframe to show my selection on the pologon shape.
It's been really fustrating and i been playing around with the tool settings but I still can't see a reference orange block to where im selecting. user added image

The Interactive Split Tool doesn't show you a block, it shows you an orange line where the split is going to occur. The block you refer to may just be a highlight in the book to show you what they are referring to or the author has Select by Faces turned on and is hovering his mouse over the face, at which point it should turn orange.
