Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

System speed drop

Hi,

I've got this problem with the speed of my machine while working with Sub-D's. Trying to setup a head for animation, but when I alter the object it takes forever to update. Is the problem al lack of memory, or is it the graphicscard that shout need more speed?

I use a 1,2Ghz CPU, 512Mb RAM, 32Mb graphicscard

Well, ok, maybe a bit harsh user added image

I've got 2.4Ghz, 512Mb, 64Mb video. It's only 3 months old. I think I'll be getting another stick of 512 and when the video card dies, I'll probably go for 128Mb.

That's the main reason I don't mess with SubDs. Far too slow to use on my comp.

The reason I started to use Sub-D's for a change, was That I 'm following the book of 'Maya Character Animation' by Jea-jin Choi, and he is using a Sub-D character for an example of facial setup, and it appeared to me...., bad idea. So afther 23 crashes I had to ask.

Stickin' to poly's, it's beter for my health!
