Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

thanks for the image. Yeah im going to work on the front turnsignal i just had to redo a huge portion of my model because of a computer problem. So had to redo all windows, textures, lights.. everything. But it kept the frontlight... so ill go back and redo them.

I dont think i want to put sideview mirrors on it. I just dont like the look of them.

The door handles ill probably put on now. But ive been messing with textures for about 2 days trying to get them right. Heres my latest attempt with a lot of help from hybrid.

It still looks like the door is old and dull. Just the door isnt shiny at all....prolly just the angle of it. I know how that is tho so....yea. I dont blame TD for not wanting to add the side mirrors. They're gay looking. Although...I think the whole car itself is gay looking...just my opinion tho (the actual real car, not your model TD). user added image

Lol, yeah i hate side mirrors... dont know why. I remember a racing game i had once where you could tweak your car i used to take them off, and you got a visual bonus if you did. user added image

My next car(already got the references) is a Toyota Celica. And i think ill take a little moe time to do that one and do it more accurately. As i dont think i can add door handles to this as the 350z's door handles are totally weird. And i cant figure out how to get them on correctly... i COULD cut a section of of the door and make the door handle out of polies(as making it with subd's like the rest of the model would be near impossible for me)... But as far as this car goes ide say its how i like it right now.

Ill start my Celica soon(already know what its going to look like, body kit/rims/pain/vinyl) so it will be cool. Maybe ill contribute it to the 3 person car collaberation thread.

hey td, when you start on the celica, i really recommend spending extra time to make sure the images planes really match up almost perfectly. As you mentioned this time the image planes weren't perfect. I recently decided to model a car (i'll probably post it up soon). I got some blueprints. Took them into PS and they did NOT match up I tried laying them over the top of each other, scaling them etc etc. It was impossible to make them match. So stuff that i decided to model a different car. Anyway my new blue prints although fairly good didn't match each other perfectly. I found i had to really fix them up in PS. I recommend you use the PS rulers and guides and you'll probably need to scale your different views so they match.
Also i found a really good site for blueprints. Probably the best there is:

https://www.smcars.net/forum/

good luck!

Yeah i plan on matchign them up well. And thanks for the site but it seems to be down now.
