Complex UV Layout in Maya

my first car

this is my first car model, all poly modeled took about a week, also is first time trying to use mental ray, can't seem to get the color and highlights to pop, also can't get the dielectric materials with colors to show color? any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Not bad for a first car model, looks like the front could use a bit more work though, could you post a piccy of the wires so we can help more.

how do you render the wireframe w/o the poly surfaces?, also it's pretty high poly so it might not be very well visable as a wire

Just taking a print screen of the model is the simplest way of gettin a wireframe image to critique.

here are three wires, i left shaded so can actually see wire, also removed all from body to shop serapate

Great for your first car model, there's a few polygons that could be cleaned up a bit round the front of the car and the door handle. this is probably the reason why youre getting very angular lighting around the front air intakes.

Did you do this from a tutorial? The ferrari model tutorial on this site is really good. It taught me loads not just about car modeling but getting into subd modeling. Have a look
