Hi,
the video has an interesting style in animating objects and I think it's a good starting to work in Maya.
I'd like to suggest something: To make an animation along with a STORY like a novel. yes it is important and time consuming, of course, to do so, but I'm sure that story can put the animation in flow. I don't think it is so hard; you can even make a short movie! It will attract much more audience.

the animation is actully not in maya at all. except for two bgs its all 2d.
