Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

material question

Hi,

I've been working a little with type and I wanted to make it appear shiny and reflective. For a test I slapped a simple mia material on but in comparison to my sphere it seems dull and boring even thugh they use the same mat.
Same happens with blin and phong, I rendered in MR. Any ideas would be great

thanks

I've never had that issue before, could be that you unchecked "trace reflections" on the geo. That's the only thing I can think of at the moment. /shrug

Hey thanks

I don't think that's the case though as I created the type and slapped a material on without changing anything, I'll check though

hi there,

I've got one more probably pretty basic material question. I don't really know much about shading so any help would be great.
I've got a particle simulation and I'd like to have the particles look like one surface, mud water etc. they should blend. In the attached image you can see my problem, it's still easy to identify them as single spheres. -I'm using the blobby surface

thanks in advance
