Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

UV Texture Editor missing icons

My UVTE has been messed up for a while. (2013 x64 student win 7)
I've got some of the panel icons, but a lot of them are missing. If I "delete" my prefs, it's fixed, but I don't want to do that for obvious reasons (plugins, hotkeys, marking menus).

I've tried killing just a few of the prefs files (e.g. windowPrefs.mel) with no luck. Anyone know which file to re-generate to fix this?

I should add that I know those bars expand and collapse. They're empty.

Argh... it appears that userPrefs.mel is the culprit. Which has some stuff that I'd rather not reset.

I'll hunt through the good and bad code and see if I can figure out what's gone wrong.

Well what the...

With my "bad" userPrefs.mel, if I start maya and open the UVTE, stuff missing. If I open it AGAIN, it's all there. If I restart maya and try again, it's gone again. Maya baffles me. How could that possibly be encoded in my userPrefs? Whatever, it's ignorable and un-bug-reportable.

Word of caution... while I was messing around with temporarily removing individual pref files, Maya regenerated new versions of files that were STILL PRESENT that had some of my changes. But just a few. Luckily I had a backup of my own prefs, but it appears maya will overwrite some of your prefs with default prefs if a certain other file is missing, and not just recreate the missing file, as I was expecting.
