Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Hi Bullet.

I'm really sorry to hear about your friend's loss. Please know there are those out there that have gone through similar and can empathize.

On a lighter note, If I may (and have to) abruptly switch gears...this is friggin sweet dude. Z brush has always intrigued me. And how you can juggle that and Maya (which allot of artists I'm finding do) is really impressive.

Can you explain what the deal is with that? IE, is z brush like a complimentary software in conjunction with others (like Maya and max)? That sort of ups the anti on the finished art? Or is it also a stand alone 3d software. It honestly seemed so complicated when I first started looking into 3d modeling that i kind of shy'd away from it. But I am constantly impressed with the results I see from those who use it.

Thanks Trav for your kind words...yes it was a very testing 2 days but the little princess is away now and its all over. The hardest part is my little girl is the same age...so it hit me and the missus hard.

Zbrush...where do I start LOL. I hate the UI but I am being forced to learn it as its where a lot of our game dev will be happening.

It can easily be a standalone mate...it has a LOT of power. The skull you see me doing from a tut is ALL in Zbrush, no base mesh from Maya at all. The second model had a base from Maya and I am basically using it as a trace model...ie building muscles over the top. I am trying to learn a bit of anatomy etc. Once its done there is no real reason to take it back into Maya...that I can see yet.

I am impressed that it also can achiebve hard surface stuff, though I still prefer Maya over Zbrush for that...simply put it quicker in Maya. I have seen some game models with amazing detail, so maya would be the quick blockouts then into Zbrush to get some AWESOME detail.

Will PM you later if you wish with some literature you can study...let me know mate. Thanks for the positive critique...I am a hack in reality but it made me feel better LOL.

Cheers bullet
