polygonal goblin

hi, today I finally started on my first real model, just to see if I can put what I learned into practice. In this case: polygonal modeling.
I'm still a complete beginner, so plz be gentleuser added image

I posted this because I want to know if you see any bad techniques or other problems that I shouldn't continue using.
(btw: the head will be added tomorrow or in the next few days)

Good start. My only comment is to adjust the shoulder area. With the arms raised up like that, the muscles in the shoulder area should be raised up as well and not flat like you have it.

This is the first head I'll be modeling in Maya, how should I start with it?
create polygon, poly cube/sphere, or other way? It has to be polygonal for now, I'll learn NURBS or subdiv later.

here are the pics I use as image planes:

Hey d24e.. do you have any points left? If you do you should REALLY get mikes poly head tutorials... they are so good. You will be able to model that head if you take the video user added image. Alright, just letting you know.. bye.

I've been thinking hard 'bout that, atm I'm trying it out myself, I'll give it a few more hours. If by then it's not looking anything like that shape, I'll download them.

The head I made has the wrong shape, it looks more like the one of a cat or tiger-like animal.user added image

Here's what I made, plz know that I realise it sux ass. I just wanted to have something on top of that neck by the end of the night.

I was abled to do some good to this model though, the bodyproportions should be more accurate now.

Last night I followed along Mike's poly head tutorial and made the back of the head with attached ear.
I'll wait until the third part comes out (one of these days I heard) before continuing.
I still have some work to do for school in photoshop and golive, so I'll do some of that today.
Here's what I made so far:
